What is a Nuclear Medicine Exam?
A nuclear medicine scan is a visual image of a person's physiology. A very small amount of radioactive tracer, such as phosphorus or other metabolic agent is given. This material is very safe and metabolized easily by the body. There is sometimes a delay before imaging while the radiotracer is being absorbed by the organ of interest. You will be made comfortable and asked to lay still while being imaged.
