Medical Imaging Associates, a four member radiology group, provides primary interpretations for many of Lourdes Imaging Network. All of our interpreting radiologists are board certified in diagnostic radiology and all Medical Imaging Associates physicians have performed additional fellowship training. Dr. Vidyadahr Akkaraju

Dr. Vidyadhar 'Viju' Akkaraju was born in India and moved to the United States in 1976 after graduating from medical school. He did his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia and a Fellowship in Neuroradiology at the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston. Dr. Akkaraju has been a resident of Lafayette for the past 27 years and has been associated with Acadiana Imaging since their inception.

Dr. Akkaraju is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology and also has a Certificate of added Qualification in Neuroradiology. He is a Senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and a member of Southeastern Neuroradiological Society.

Dr. Rodney Burns

Dr. Rodney Burns, originally from New Mexico, has lived in Louisiana since 1992. He received his internship and diagnostic radiology training at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. He was a faculty member at L.S.U. New Orleans in the emergency radiology section prior to entering private practice. He has practiced in Lafayette since 2000 and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology with certification in Diagnostic Radiology.

Dr. Matthew Grant

Dr. Matthew Grant is originally from Lafayette. He received his bachelor degree from LSU and completed his medical school training at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He then undertook his residency training in diagnostic radiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Grant went on to complete an additional year of fellowship training in musculoskeletal radiology in a combined fellowship program at the University of Alabama and St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham (home of the Dr James Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center). His special interests include MR and CT arthrography, musculoskeletal tumor imaging, and ultrasound guided procedures. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology with certification in Diagnostic Radiology.

Dr. Jeremy Laborde

Dr. Laborde, a Lafayette native, completed both medical school (2005) and radiology residency (2010) at LSU-Shreveport. He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology (2010.) He recently completed a Body/Musculoskeletal MRI imaging fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL (2011), one of the highest volume Body MRI centers in the United States and a Siemens MRI research facility. He has a special interest in introducing the benefits of body MRI to south Louisiana, including exams such as prostate MRI, advanced liver MRI, MR enterography, and diffusion weighted MR imaging for the detection and treatment response assessment of neoplasms. He has fellowship experience in the optimization of MR imaging for the 3 Tesla Siemens Verio magnet, which is currently Lourdes Imaging Network's flagship magnet.

Dr. Alecia Rideau

A native of Baker, Louisiana, Dr. Alecia Rideau pursued her undergraduate studies at Duke University and her medical degree from Tulane University. Dr. Rideau completed her radiology residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and has completed two fellowships, one in abdominal and pelvic imaging at Duke University and another in breast imaging at Wake Forest University-Baptist Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and has a certificate of proficiency in breast MRI from the American College of Radiology. Dr. Rideau has assumed physician leadership at St. Agnes Breast Center in Lafayette.

Dr. Joan Wojak

Dr. Wojak was born and raised on Long Island, N.Y. She attended Princeton University, where she received her A.B. in Chemistry. She graduated from N.Y.U. School of Medicine. After a Surgery internship and Neurosurgery residency at N.Y.U., she completed her Radiology residency at L.S.U. School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1994 and a fellowship in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology in 1996. She moved to Lafayette that year and has been working at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and St. Mary's Imaging Center since then. She is the current Medical Director of Radiology at Our Lady of Lourdes and Heart Hospital of Lafayette and is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at L.S.U. School of Medicine. Dr. Wojak is a Board Certified Radiologist since 1994. She has Subspecialty Certification in Neuroradiology, which she originally recieved in 1997; she completed her re-certification in 2007. She is a Senior Member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and an Active Member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and the Society of Interventional Radiology. She is the co-author of a textbook, the author of many papers and textbook chapters, and a frequent invited speaker at meetings around the country.
