Medical Imaging Associates, a four member radiology group, provides primary interpretations for many of Lourdes Imaging Network. All of our interpreting radiologists are board certified in diagnostic radiology and all Medical Imaging Associates physicians have performed additional fellowship training. Dr. Akkaraju

Dr. Vidyadhar 'Viju' Akkaraju was born in India and moved to the United States in 1976 after graduating from medical school. He did his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia and a Fellowship in Neuroradiology at the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston. Dr. Akkaraju has been a resident of Lafayette for the past 27 years and has been associated with Acadiana Imaging since their inception.

Dr. Akkaraju is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology and also has a Certificate of added Qualification in Neuroradiology. He is a Senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and a member of Southeastern Neuroradiological Society.



Dr. Rodney Burns

Dr. Rodney Burns, originally from New Mexico, has lived in Louisiana since 1992. He received his internship and diagnostic radiology training at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. He was a faculty member at L.S.U. New Orleans in the emergency radiology section prior to entering private practice. He has practiced in Lafayette since 2000 and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology with certification in Diagnostic Radiology.




Dr. Victor Gunderson Jr.

Dr. Gunderson, a Lafayette native, is a graduate of Louisiana State University. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana and completed his residency in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Gunderson is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, Louisiana State Medical Society, and Lafayette Parish Medical Society. He has been practicing Diagnostic Radiology for over 30 years, working with Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for 15 years. Dr. Gunderson recently joined Medical Imaging Associates.



Dr. Mark Stephan

Dr. Mark Stephan, a Lafayette native, is a graduate of USL and LSU Medical School at New Orleans. He served his internship and Radiology Residency at The Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, and subsequently served as a Fellow in Interventional Radiology at The M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He has been engaged in the private practice of radiology in the Greater Lafayette area for more than 20 years. Dr. Stephan is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology and has been granted Board Certification in Diagnostic Radiology, Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology, and is a Senior Member of the American Society of Neuroradiology.

Dr. Stephan has been listed in the "Best Doctors in America" and Louisiana Life Best Doctors in Louisiana databases.

Dr. Hoppe

Dr. Hoppe originally from Metairie, Louisiana moved to Lafayette after Hurricane Katrina. He received his bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech University in Biomedical Engineering and his M.D. from LSU in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Radiology with a specialty in Neurointerventional Radiology. After his arrival to Lafayette he began working at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center where he then became a member of ARG.



Dr. Joan Wojak

Dr. Wojak was born and raised on Long Island, N.Y. She attended Princeton University, where she recieved her A.B. in Chemistry. She graduated from N.Y.U. School of Medicine. After a Surgery internship and Neurosurgery residency at N.Y.U., she completed her Radiology residency at L.S.U. School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1994 and a fellowship in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology in 1996. She moved to Lafayette that year and has been working at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and St. Mary's Imaging Center since then. She is the current Medical Director of Radiology at Our Lady of Lourdes and Heart Hospital of Lafayette and is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at L.S.U. School of Medicine. Dr. Wojak is a Board Certified Radiologist since 1994. She has Subspecialty Certification in Neuroradiology, which she originally recieved in 1997; she completed her re-certification in 2007. She is a Senior Member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and an Active Member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and the Society of Interventional Radiology. She is the co-author of a textbook, the author of many papers and textbook chapters, and a frequent invited speaker at meetings around the country.
